MySpace’s “MyAds” advertising platform is officially out of its beta stage today. Users will be able to specifically target their audience not with keywords and text ads like Facebook’s model but with customized Cost-Per-Click (CPC) banners. The new platform comes with a banner-editor which guides you through all the steps of getting your ads out there.
In addition, MySpace devised a much more powerful way of targeting the right people. Facebook ads only worked with keywords and basically only catered to interest groups. With MyAds there are 1200 ways of categorizing desired users. You can choose an age range, gender and interests. As you can see below, if I want to advertise my ad above to males and females that are between 20 and 40 years old who love doggies and death metal I can do so.
This could be a huge revenue source for the new MySpace Music as their ad campaigns start at $25 with advertisers bidding against one another for top placement in categories. Google ads will still lead the race for a while but MyAds will be the next playground in the months to come.
