Now this news dates back to July but it is still worth mentioning for all bands eager to promote a gig in a creative way. Holy Ghost Revival is an Americanindie rock band that moved to London (UK) last summer. To announce their arrival, and to greet their British fans, the band decided to set up a free show in exchange for some home furniture. Here is how they presented the invite:
You, the public of London Town (or otherwise) are cordially invited to the Holy Ghost Revival London house warming boat party on Wednesday 9th July 2008 at the Battersea Barge. There’ no entry fee, just choose any item from the list below for us for our new London home in order to gain access to the gig:

Pretty cool huh? Yeah I think so too. Even if they don’t get much out of it furniture-wise, it sure gets the ball rolling for their fan-base who most certainly appreciated the idea and the gesture. They got very good press coverage over the event (google ‘Holy Ghost Revival House warming boat party) leading to reviews of the show. In addition they filmed the event:
mruff to all you guerilla marketers out there.
