There has been a lot of hullabaloo since rumors that the Kinks would reunite spawned back at the beginning of the year. Lead singer Ray Davies hinted in an interview he gave to the BBC in Februrary that the original band members (Ray Davies, Dave Davies, Pete Quaife and Mick Avory) , dismantled since 1969, were planning a comeback to work on some new material.
This legendary band was one of the most influential of its time, (yeah, yeah, shadowed by those damn scarabs hoggin’ the spot light). Their golden age (1966-1972) bred amazing tunes like You Really Got Me Goin, Lola, Sunny Afternoon and so many others. Unfortunately many complications lead the band to change line-ups, and after ’72 there just wasn’t the same vibe anymore.
Anyways, Geoff Edgers, a Boston Globe‘s arts reporter joined the ranks of the many who have been urging and boosting the Kinks to get back together. He’s currently working on a documentary called Do It Again whose sole purpose is to get the band to reunite. Here’s a funny trailer of the movie:
Can’t wait till this comes out.
