I just spent the last 30 minutes wasting my time on this demented community art website called b3ta.com. I had to literally force my hand to close my firefox tab in order to stop browsing through all of its delightful and very distracting madness. The specific content that grabbed my attention was a contest b3ta.com engaged its community in on photoshoping popular album covers (click here to see the whole gallery). Most of the results are really good, surprising and original.
b3ta.com is much more than just an art community. The website got massively popular since Rob Manuel, Denise Wilton and Cal Henderson founded it in 2001. Their main feature is the Newsletter that is sent weekly to over 100 000 subscribers and features the best of what the community plus the editors have to offer during that week. Most of the content is perverse, sexually inclined and can be considered offensive, but it’s still pretty darn funny. Apart from the newsletters, there are also those weekly photoshop contests, weekly questions, message boards where people can post images and many other little themes, games and thingies that make this site very active and exiting.
In the same vein as for photoshoping album art, three weeks ago they launched a contest on recreating album covers. Funny results there too. Here’s the link. Enjoy.
(Oh and the hell with it. Has nothing to do with music but here’s a hilarious one on extreme horseys)
