tallanlatz-190x300It’s pretty much not how many times you fall down, it’s how many times you get back up‘ are the words from 9 year old ‘T Man’, blues guitarist prodigy, who is being denied public performances because of his young age as someone reported him to the state department for violating child labor laws. His booking agent even received  a letter threatening her life if she didn’t stop booking him.

A crazy demented musician sending threat letters is one thing, but to have the law against you is equally as frustrating. In Wisconsin, where Tallan performs, a child is permitted to drink a beer as long as his parents are present and allow it, but if the parents hand him a guitar to jam on stage it’s considered child endangerment.

Needless to say that these child labor laws are enforced to avoid child abuse, but in T-man’s case the statute is applied ridiculously. The young prodigy is only allowed to play in fairs and festivals most of which are only scheduled for spring and summer time, so bars are bassically the only places he could perform the rest of the year and maintain his two blues bands.

Utterly ridiculous… Something must be done.
